Good move. Thank you for making this transition. We’re in a political time the likes of which we have not known in our lives. Yet history does as it always has when and how it repeats. May your wisdom continue to guide you on this platform.
Welcome to Substack.com, Thomas! I've been reading your blog for years, and a paying "customer" for a couple of years. I have been "here" on Substack.com for more than 2 years. It was slow-going at first, but has picked up considerably in the last few months with improved "networking" effects. Substack seems like it may become a real social network, far more substantive than Facebook, with deeper conversations and less flaming. And unlike Wordpress.com, it seems to attract at least some readers who know they should pay to read and sustain quality writing. You should post regularly to Notes, and to the Substacks of simpatico writers, to expand your network.
Also, a new feature is to "follow" not just subscribe to other Substacks, to encourage two-way communication and staying in touch without subscribing to a lot of other Substacks that clutter up email pretty fast. Good luck!
PS -- The stats I've seen from Substack are that 10% to 30% of subscribers or regular readers will be willing to pay something. Not likely to get more than 30% paying unless they are really committed to your project or feel like they are part of a vital "community."

Thanks, Thomas.
Hope I can navigate to find you.

Thanks for the tips, Jim. I hope this works out better than what I've been doing.
