Earlier this year, I announced PoliticsNC would be moving to Substack. It’s taken awhile but I’m finally making that move. I’ll continue to publish posts at least three times per week. However, they will be delivered to your in-box as newsletters as I write them instead of twice weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays.
For years, other social media platforms drove much my traffic. Both Twitter and Facebook have essentially stopped sharing my posts. As Musk has made the experience on X, as he now calls Twitter, increasingly unpleasant, I’m shifting to Threads.net, Meta’s quickly growing alternative. You can follow me there at @politics_nc.
I hope that Substack will both help increase readership and generate a bit more revenue. I’m encouraging people to subscribe to my blog with either monthly or yearly subscriptions, but I’m reluctant to put up a paywall. However, only subscribers will be able to comment. If you are already subscribed with either a monthly or yearly donation, thank you. You don’t need to do anything else. You will receive all publications and can comment as usual.
I expect a few kinks as we transition to Substack. I’m working on importing my archive and hope to have that functional in the next few days. I apologize in advance for any hiccups in the operation. Please let me know if you have problems or suggestions.
The 2024 election cycle is, once again, one of the most important of our lifetimes. The threat of another Trump presidency is real and a danger to our democracy. North Carolina will again play an outsized role in the election as one of a handful of swing states. We’ll elect a new governor for the first time in eight years and our whole Council of State is up for election. I’ll do my best to keep you informed and put the election cycle into perspective.
I hope I can count on your support. Please consider subscribing if you haven’t already. For those who already are set up on monthly or yearly donations, thank you. If you want to make a one-time donation, you can mail checks to:

I thank everyone who has supported me over the years and I thank you for reading. I hope this transition will go smoothly and that you continue to be a regular reader.
Thanks,
Thomas
Good move. Thank you for making this transition. We’re in a political time the likes of which we have not known in our lives. Yet history does as it always has when and how it repeats. May your wisdom continue to guide you on this platform.
Thanks, Thomas.
Hope I can navigate to find you.
