The losses of our Civil War--while such suffering offers lessons for all involved then and now--do seem to be lost among many. And from observations, many of us are quite happy to celebrate Memorial Day as "let the good times of summer roll"--no sobriety or gravity about it. And embrace "their colors" of our country all the way to the ballot box....And don't tread on me. Because it's easier to deny and dismiss the travesties of slavery and "revise" history than it is to do hard study of it.
I agree 100% Thomas
Thanks for the thoughtful essay.
