I truly hope I am wrong about this prediction: But this country will be hit by a national calamity during this Trump term that will cause even his supporters to turn on him. It could be the lapse of Social Security or something not even thought about at the moment.
Trump needs to be forced out of office. Unfortuntely, our system is too cumbersome. Political parties won’t convict presidents of their own persuasion. The 25th Amendment is a joke, for it depends on the president’s buddies to oust him.
If somehow, the country survives all these fools, a mighty big “if,” there needs to be fundamental reform regarding how to jettison a corrupt chief executive.
Democrats, from congressional leaders,to backwater citizens (I am one!) should be railing against this fool daily.
The country could eventually turn on him in a proverbial New York Minute.
I find it appalling that any American could support him. What is wrong with people?
One businessman in my rural Virginia town told me weeks ago, “We now have a real president.”
I told him to check with me in a month.
I have not seen my former friend, a Social Security recipient, since his comment!
I just saw a comment from a MAGAT that I know who thinks Social Security is safe that they'd never go after it. Until they see what's really happening but not watching Fox, etc., they're hopeless. Yesterday, someone wrote to me that FEMA was putting immigrants up in expensive hotels. His cultists are blind to reality.
"Democrats, from congressional leaders to backwater citizens (I am one!) should be railing against this fool daily." -- THIS. Hourly, even. We may need to drive to DC and surround Schumer's house by the thousands to get through to him that he is not doing enough (and should step aside to let those with more energy and ideas act to save our democracy).
That was actually Napoleon, not Sun Tzu, but the logic is sound regardless. I wish I were as confident of the self-immolation of the GOP as Carville is, but I’ve seen way to many instances of “Something-That-Should-Have-Torpedoed-The-Whole-Party” fizzling out into a Big Nothingburger with extra cheese. I’d love nothing more than to be wrong on this one, but all I see coming out of the entire Western world turning against us is an opening for Putin to conquer the US — or our former allies in Western Europe — without firing a shot. Putin has to be laughing his ass off at this clown show, knowing that Fat Donny will eventually turn America into a pariah state with no friends left but him, Xi and Kim OR he’ll trigger an Article V confrontation by attacking a NATO member (Greenland) which will pit the whole of NATO against us, and who will Fat Donny turn to in those troubled times? His nefarious pals, Putin, Xi, and Kim.
That said, staying out of the way of the self-destruction doesn’t have to mean the opposition stops. But the worst mistakes of the early years of Trump v. 1 were going all-in and breathlessly counting on That Thing That Collapses The Whole Enterprise. It started before the election even happened, when everyone was convinced the Access Hollywood tape was the end of his campaign. After that it was a litany of This Time For Sures! Russiagate, Helsinki, the Pee Tape, and oh fucking by the way half a million Americans DEAD because the pandemic was making him look bad. Too many to keep track of.
You and Carville are corporate democrats that do not really care about ordinary Americans. Do nothing. Really? It was do nothing democrats like you that got us in this mess. Count me as unsubscribed.
Doing nothing is a terrible plan. We can’t just standby while Mump destroys our country. It will be extremely difficult to rebuild our democracy. Clearly destruction is easier than rebuilding.
When Gunter says in his response to this dispatch that "this country will be hit by a natural calamity," I nod in the affirmative. I do not believe we can quite predict what this will be because so-called "natural disasters" (i.e., floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, fires, blizzards from a polar vortex, pandemics from rogue viruses, among others) are now more "unnatural" than natural because anthropogenic related climate disturbances have resulted in imbalances in our environment we feel and will continue to experience. Tragic. But whatever the calamity is will be big. Or just maybe the calamity will an accumulation of events. We cannot know. When Gunter asks, "What is wrong with people?" he has my sentiment. To explain it to myself I keep writing about things the way I always have because I have for decades and decades done this to help me figure out my work with the public in secondary education and higher education. How often I would be dazed by students, for good and for ill, because I could not understand how someone might behave or think or not think in ways leaving me completely perplexed. Not much surprises me although this moment does cause daily shock.
Ron White's comedy often delivers hard truths wrapped in humor. His phrase "You can't fix stupid" has struck a chord with many. Comedy can sometimes shine a light on deeper societal issues, such as the impact of losing a job, home, or a vehicle. Let's hope people realize that MAGA was a scam and recognize themselves as the victims.
Clear analysis of the moment. Our engagement matters-keep calling, writing, talking to your still-to-be enlightened family & friends and show up where you can to take action.

The way things are being destroyed there may not be a midterm. He and his minions may have total control of what used to be the United States.
Still has 45% of all republicans. Gotta wonder if they are rich? Insulated? Untouched by his policies? Not fired yet? 401k not fallen?
No gay, trans, pregnant relatives?
Confidant in their SS, Medicare, Medicaid continuing?
Or are they that flipping idiotic?

The Sun Tzu quote is sooo appropriate.
OMG! Don’t wait 2 years to throw those traitors in jail. What will they do in the meantime? 2 months should have been enough proof
Not soon enough. Not fast enough. The Democrats will blow it once again. It’s in their genes.

Oppositions dont win elections - governments lose elections
The midterms? We need Now fixed.
