Thomas Mills, look at this morning's editorial in the Wall Street Journal on Trump's rant that you quoted.

Roy Cooper is being highly considered as Harris' VP choice and what a good choice that would be, especially for NC. They've known each other for around 20 years and are friends. He's very capable and won't be giving up a seat. And he's from the south.

Agree 1000%. I was afraid if President Biden stepped aside that there would be a circus picking a successor but I am very happy how all those that could be the front runner backed the VP. I think young people who may have skipped the election will now be energized by having a younger choice. Let’s go!!

It’s become glaringly clear that our nation is regressing. As the years rolled by, humanity seemed to be getting less intelligent at an alarming pace. There were those who held out hope that genetic engineering might reverse this evolutionary trend, but unfortunately, the brightest minds and most significant resources were devoted to solving hair loss and extending erections. Both of which are of cardinal importance to Trump.

Joe, who had been excelling in his position, was forced to step down. His adversary, a man of dubious ethics and a known felon, fraudster, and liar has no consideration for the middle-class working Americans. Despite this, he has managed to convince a substantial segment of the voters that he possesses virtues that he has never demonstrated and never will. He pledges to instill their Christian values into the government in clear violation of the no establishment clause. A man who has never lived by Christian values suddenly hits the saw dust trail. OH MY, God works in mysterious ways. If you believe that Trump is a product of divine intervention, I have a hell of a deal for you on a bridge!

Thank you PoliticsNC, brainchild of Thomas Mills. And, yes, the process we've been going through has been distressing. Not that moving forward promises ease, but for now my personal agonizing has begun to abate. And it's been "collective distress." Definitely not healthy during a sweltering summer. The last sentence in this post about making "Biden's sacrifice count" punctuates the call to action of NOW, these next months, and from this point forward. And from this point forward, I'd like to better understand more about how money--donorships to politicians--operate and more about how the bigger and biggest donors do what they do. So much money sloshes around campaigns. Maybe you can help those of us "not in the know" better grasp this element. Wherever there is mucho money, we must always ask who benefits and how and who does not and why. Also the concept of "race and ethnicity" get talked and written about a lot, yet I'd like to see more discussion about the concept of "class" as this plays into what's going on. But for today I'm once again glad you have the writing discipline and refined writing crafts(personship) that you possess. And thank you to readers and responders of PoliticsNC.

I am very sure based on what we have all seen, that among Democrats and aligned Independents that within a minute or two after Joe Biden's announcement, there was a huge exuberant exlosion of joy and hope. The young people I know are sooo happy - as am I.

Good take Thomas. Of course we anticipated Biden could go, and it was the right thing for the party and the country. The aftermath looks more encouraging than I thought it possibly could, with all the squawking from media and speculating (isn't that what they do best?) about the possible chaos and bed-wetting. Guess what? Beginning to look like unity! Fingers crossed.

I agree for now that America needs to go for Kamilla..... trump must NOT gain power again! I tried to contribute to the campaign via Actblue.com this morning and the payment would not complete. I take that as a good sign that the servers are overloaded with potential contributors. I WILL be trying again and again if necessary later in the day.

RFK Jr will drop out endorsing Trump and Harris will win by 10 points. As I wrote in 1980 about the new reality in elections, the candidate is secondary to the campaign and its media needs. Kamala Harris has exactly the qualities people want and the campaign needs - a dynamic personality and a street fighter comfortably taking on Trump and the MAGA mindset aggressively. She will rip Donald Trump a new asshole. I’d like to see Melania’s ballot because I believe even she will vote for Harris.
